Support for purchase of Dr. Beat metronome, which can help students with the subdivision and basic patterns that are found in music. This metronome can help students understand the difference between macro and micro beat and be hooked up to our sound system to help students while preparing for concerts and other performances. This tool will help all grade 6-8 band students at Forsythe Middle School.

Young trumpet players often struggle to correctly hold their trumpet. There is a thumb rest that can be affixed to the trumpet to allow young students to more comfortably hold the instrument. This grant will cover approximately 30 trumpet players until the thumb rests wear out.

This grant would benefit students approximately 120 students grade 9-12. Printmaking is an area of art that HHS has not been able to fully support the past several years. Currently students in the IBDP Visual Arts class and Drawing, Painting & Printmaking class have chance to create one small linoleum print. As an art department, teachers have had the opportunity to do workshops with gelli prints and have been exploring screen printing. Receiving this grant will benefit the students by allowing them to explore exciting and innovative printing methods that otherwise are not possible. The HHS Advance Portfolio students would be able raise the level of their college portfolio submissions with art that pushes beyond paper, pencil and paint.

I serve close to 300 students at least twice a week. I would like to make more of our instruments more accessible, our room does not have a great storage situation. Having orff instrument stands will not only help save some space, but because they also have wheels that can be moved around with ease and adjusted so make them more accessible for students.

This would benefit 5th grade Band students at Carpenter Elementary. It would help 12 clarinet players and 8 trumpet players every year! The mirrors would help all band students look at their embouchures. The vacuum would help all band students for years to come as this would help us get the inside of the instrument cases clean.

Pathways to Success High School
This grant would be a game changer for our program, Actors Studio at Pathways (ASAP), which serves high school students at Pathways to Success Academic Campus (in the Ann Arbor Public Schools). We are working to create an end-of-year video production called "Voices from the Path" and could desperately use technical supplies (a new microphone and LED light kit) as well as the assistance of guest mentorship from a couple recording artists (Kyler Wilkins and Clarence Collins).

String players grades 5th through 8th would benefit from this grant. This amounts to about 100 students. I am requesting funds for tuners, metronomes, and rugs for the classroom. Tuners and metronomes available for student use are incredibly beneficial for their development as musicians and time-saving in the classroom. Starting in 6th grade, students learn how to use a tuner and make small adjustments to their strings. Having enough tuners in the classroom for students to use helps us save time, as well as teaches personal responsibility. Metronomes are a similar tool that allow students to guide their own practice without requiring them to use a chromebook or personal device. Recently, two large rugs that covered most of the space in the room were removed. Though we are happy to have these dusty rugs out of the room, the room needs a couple of area rugs so that the cello and bass players can have a surface to rest their endpins on.

This grant would benefit all percussionists for years to come at Scarlett MS. We currently have 15+ percussionists at Scarlett. This will help us have mallets/stick bags to issue to students who cannot afford to buy their own, it will provide us with a tambourine with a head so that we can appropriately play concert music, and it will provide us new drum heads for our drum set so we can use it to perform in the future.

Tappan Middle School
This grant would benefit about 180 Tappan Choir students in grades 6-8. The funding would be used to purchase new music for the coming school year. I have already programmed much of the music in our current choral library, and the students will benefit from learning additional pieces in 3 and 4 voice parts, pieces in languages other than English, and pieces by new composers, as well as arrangements of student-selected songs for our spring pop/musical theater program.

One alto xylophone to replace a pre-1970 instrument that is in bad shape; the alto xylophone is beyond repair. Every student within our building (500+ students) will come into contact on a weekly basis with this instrument. We specifically have a game that we play only at the end of the year, called "10 Sly Piranhas" that utilizes every xylophone we have. This replacement xylophone will allow more students to play the game in the next few weeks!

Hello! Thank you for making this grant opportunity available to us! I teach the Y5-3rd grade students in our building. I teach roughly 350 students throughout my school year. These funds would help to allow me to purchase some materials of higher quality, so that my students will have the chance to elevate their art production exponentially! Integrating in higher quality paints, glazes, and papers would be hugely beneficial to the lower elementary choice art program!

Burns Park Elementary
This grant would directly benefit approximately 470 students in grades K–5 at Burns Park Elementary, with a particular focus on students in grades 3–5. These students participate in general music, where they are introduced to key musical concepts including melody, harmony, rhythm, and notation. The addition of mini piano keyboards would allow each student hands-on access to a potentially new instrument, which would be awesome for practicing these skills in a meaningful and engaging way. For younger grades, the keyboards would support foundational exploration of pitch and rhythm, while older students would use them to delve deeper into understanding chords, melodies, and basic composition. Many students seem very interested in wanting to play the piano and having access to multiple we can use during class time will promote participation and musical creativity!

Orchestra violin students, grade 9-12 at Huron HS would benefit from having an appropriate shoulder rest to aid in holding their instrument properly. Many students (often with limited means) arrive in 9th grade with poor habits that are a direct result of their violin set-up and create barriers for their advancement. Having access to theses shoulder rests allow students to begin to build strong foundational skills on their instrument that will remove these barriers to their future advancement.

Tappan Middle School
This grant would benefit 6th-8th grade band students at Tappan. We would use the grant to buy music supplies for our instruments, primarily cleaning and care supplies and percussion equipment. We would use this money to buy snakes, swabs, valve oil, slide grease, percussion yarn mallets, and other cleaning supplies for instruments. This will directly affect students and keep our instruments in good condition to use for many years to come. We will also be able to support students who cannot afford their own instrument care supplies.

The First Performance music books will be used by all 5th Grade Band students at Haisley, approximately 50 students per school year. These books will enrich their first concert experience with music from a variety of styles.
The clarinet reeds will be used by all 5th Grade clarinet players at Haisley. There are currently 8 students learning to play the clarinet this year. They use an average of one reed per month (8+ reeds per school year). These reeds are essential for beginners.
The alto saxophone mouthpiece will be used by one of our 5th Grade alto sax players at Haisley each school year. We recently lost this type of mouthpiece because a student dropped it and it broke.
The percussion kit will be used by one of our 5th Grade percussionists at Haisley each school year. Our current percussion kits have endured a lot of use from the children over the years. It is time to start replacing the percussion kits that are broken or incomplete.

I am seeking a grant to purchase 9 glockenspiels and a bass xylophone stand for my elementary music classroom, which in my classroom will serve around 450 students in Y5, 1st–5th grade, and our 3 ASD classrooms. These instruments will allow more students to play at once, increasing hands-on musical experiences while developing gross and fine motor skills. The bass xylophone stand will make my large instrument more mobile and accessible, reducing setup time and allowing more students to engage with it regularly. This grant will help create a more inclusive, efficient, and enriching music environment for all learners.

All grades, approximately 500 students. I would like to purchase two more (I did purchase one from another BP Grant this year, so I know I may or may not get this one as others get priority.). These adjustable Sonor Orff stands will provide safe, accessible support for our classroom instruments, allowing students of all sizes to play comfortably. They will improve flexibility in setup, support student engagement, and align with our ongoing goal of providing durable, high-quality equipment for active music learning.

Approximately 30 5th grade clarinet players every year, for years and years and years. Students would be able to clean their clarinets with swabs that are washable instead of the ones that must be thrown away at the end of the school year. I not only want to teach how to clean their clarinet, but that it's important to take care of the environment.

The Compatible Duets/Trios/Quartets series and the Skilful Studies book will benefit all of the 7th and 8th Grade Band students at Forsythe Middle School. There are currently 76 students in these ensembles. These books would help diversify our chamber music library with more modern compositions and arrangements. These resources would help students who would like to participate in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Solo & Ensemble Festival as well as All-State Honors Band prepare high quality performances.
The clarinet mouthpiece and ligature would help our economically disadvantaged students learning the clarinet to produce a beautiful characteristic tone. This type of mouthpiece is easier to play and the ligature is more durable than a metal ligature. This equipment could benefit 2-4 students each school year.
